From August 19 to 29, 2008, An United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) international language exhibition was held by the Philippines ministry of education. Education Minister Hon.Alberto G. Romulo and Secretary General of the Philippines National Committee of UNESCO, Hon.Alberto G. Romulo delivered speeches during the exhibition. Volunteer Chinese language teachers dispatched by the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) assisted the Culture Department of the Ministry of Education in holding the exhibition. Various resources including Chinese teaching materials, video and audio products, Chinese culture readings, Chinese themed paper-cutting and the four treasures of the study were showed during the exhibition, winning wide appraise from the visitors from all over the world. Chinese, as one of the six official languages used by the United Nations, has been given high priority around the world.
