Confucius Institute of Betong Municipality(Thailand)

In March 2006, Thailand Betong International Chinese University and the Office of Chinese Language Council International signed a letter of intent to establish the Confucius Institute of Betong Municipality. With the authorization of the Chinese Language Council International, China Chongqing University carried out the actual construction of the institute in cooperation with Betong Municipality. On Dec 29th, 2006, the Confucius institute held its formal grand opening ceremony.  Betong is the centralized living place for the Chinese people in the southern area of Thailand. The city boasts Thailand’s largest Chinese language school-----Zhonghua school, which has the longest history of teaching Chinese language in Thailand. From the kindergarten through high school, this school has about 2000 students.   Betong International Chinese University is part of Betong Municipality’s plan for promoting literature and education development in coordination with the national education policy as well as the Jolo province development policy.
