Brief lntroduction:The Centre for Chinese Studies at the University of Stellenbosch was founded in July 2004. This centre is the first organization set up for researching Sino-Africa relationship and teaching Chinese language in South Africa. It has established relations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education in South Africa. Therefore, it has a significant role in promoting cultural exchanges between China and African countries.
Services:The purpose of the Centre for Chinese studies is to support the teaching of Chinese language, select students for Chinese governmental scholarships, promote Chinese language teaching in senior high schools and establish cooperative relations with Chinese audio media. This Centre offers short-term courses for diplomats in charge of Chinese affairs and promotes these courses to diplomats from SADC′s countries.
